Abstract
Pedestrian way is a path that aims to provide services for its users to ensure the smoothness, safety, and comfort of pedestrians (Department of Public Workers, 1999). However, in reality, there are still pedestrian ways that do not function optimally because of street vendors and parking motorbikes so that their services do not guarantee and comfort. Jawa street is located in Sumbersari sub-district which has a variety of land uses such as education, and services, so that many pedestrians walking on Jawa street. There are several problems in Jawa street, such as the number of street vendors and parking vehicles along Jawa street. In addition, the physical condition of the pedestrian way damaged at several points in Jawa street. Based on that problem, the pedestrian way need improvement to support a sense of security, and fun for pedestrians. This study aims to determine pedestrian way performance based on pedestrian perceptions using the IPA (importance-performance analysis) method. IPA analysis is used to determine the level of performance and the level of importance on the variables of safety, pleasant conditions, and safety. The results of the IPA analysis showed that the sub-variables included in quadrant I are the availability of accessibility for persons with disabilities, pedestrian ways are free from street vendors, pedestrian ways are free from motorized vehicles, the availability of trash cans, and the availability of ballparks. The output in this study is to formulated several recommendations in improving pedestrian way performance based on pedestrian perceptions, including providing guide lanes for pedestrian ways, enacting regulations related to street vendors arrangement, parking arrangements, procurement of trash bins, as well as repair and procurement of ballparks.
